Paint correction for Murthal drivers

Night drives past the dhaba strip, tar on the lower panels and foggy morning wipe-downs all leave their mark. We polish them out at our Sonipat studio.

A highway town is hard on paint

Murthal lives on NH-44. The dhabas stay busy past midnight, cars and trucks stop and start all along the strip, and the front of every car that drives through at night collects insects. Left for a day in the sun, those insect remains turn acidic and leave dull etched spots on the bumper and bonnet.

The lower doors pick up tar from freshly laid patches on the highway and service lanes. Scrubbing tar off with a rough cloth or kerosene, as many people do, leaves scratch marks around each spot that are often worse than the tar.

Then come the winter months. Dense fog settles on the car overnight, mixes with road dust and dries into a sticky grey film. A quick wipe at 8 AM before college or office drags that film across the paint, and that is how most Murthal cars end up swirled.

What we usually correct on Murthal cars

Most cars from here need a mix of these, not just one.

Insect etching

Dull spots on the front bumper, bonnet edge and mirrors. Light etching polishes out fully, older marks fade a great deal.

Tar spots and scrub marks

Tar is dissolved with a proper remover first, then the scratches from earlier scrubbing are polished away.

Fog-wipe swirls

Fine circular marks across the roof, bonnet and boot from wiping a damp, dusty car.

Pitted, yellow headlights

Night highway driving sandblasts the lenses and the sun yellows them. Restoration brings back clarity and light output.

Headlights that see a lot of highway

Cloudy lenses are a real safety issue on unlit stretches of road.

Paint thickness decides how far we go

Before any machine work, we measure the paint on every panel with a thickness gauge. Clear coat is thin, and each polishing stage takes a tiny amount away, so the readings tell us how much correction each panel can safely take.

Bumpers and bonnets on highway cars are often repainted after small accidents. Those panels read differently, and we adjust the pad and compound for them rather than treating the whole car the same.

Matching the stage to the car

These are the combinations we suggest most often for Murthal customers.

Daily NH-44 car, visible swirls and tar scrub marksTwo stage correction
Older car with fading and years of wipingThree stage correction
Any car with cloudy lensesAdd headlight restoration

Getting the car to Sonipat

There is no studio in Murthal, so correction is done at our Sonipat head office. From Murthal it is a straight drive along NH-44, and the studio is open Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 7 PM.

Students and staff at the university and owners who run businesses along the highway usually drop the car in the morning. Pickup and drop can be arranged on request if you cannot spare the time. For anything polishing cannot fix, such as chips showing primer, we can quote dent and paint work in the same visit.

Clean insect splatter off the front within a day, with plain water and a soft cloth. That one habit prevents most of the etching we end up polishing out.

Protecting the front after correction

Highway driving will keep throwing gravel and insects at the front. PPF on the bumper and bonnet takes those hits instead of the paint, and a ceramic coating on the rest makes tar and bugs easier to lift off. Current rates for each stage are on the price list.

Questions people ask

Can insect marks on my bumper be removed?

Fresh marks wash off. Marks that have baked in the sun etch into the clear coat, and those need polishing. Most fade completely, and very old ones fade enough that you have to look hard to find them.

How do you remove tar without scratching?

We use a dedicated tar remover that softens it so it can be wiped away with no pressure. Kerosene and rough cloths are what usually cause the scratches around old tar spots.

Is wiping fog off my car every morning really that harmful?

Fog itself is harmless, but it holds dust against the paint. Wiping that mixture is like light sanding. Rinse with water first, or leave the car until it dries and then wash it.

How long will the car stay at the Sonipat studio?

A single stage polish is usually done the same day. Two and three stage correction takes about one to two days, depending on the size of the car.

Do headlights need to come off for restoration?

No. We mask the surrounding paint and work on the lens in place. It is sanded, polished and sealed against UV so it stays clear for longer.

Is a single stage polish enough before selling my car?

Often it is. A single stage polish with headlight restoration lifts the look of a used car a lot in photos. If the swirls are heavy, a two stage job makes a clearer difference.
