Car window tinting in Hardoi
Central UP summers are long and harsh on a car cabin. Here is what sun film can and cannot do, and how to get the right legal shade from our Hardoi studio.
Heat on NH-730 and around town
If you drive NH-730 towards Lucknow or Shahjahanpur in May, you spend hours with the sun coming through the side glass. Around town it is the same story at a smaller scale, with cars parked outside shops, offices and the mandi in full sun.
Window film is a thin layer fitted to the inside of the glass. It filters most of the UV and part of the infrared heat, so the cabin heats up more slowly and the AC catches up sooner.
Film types, shades and slots at the Hardoi studio can change, so please call +91 72063 13033 to check what is available before you visit.
The rules apply in UP too
CMVR Rule 100 is a central rule, so it applies in Uttar Pradesh just as it does in Haryana. The windscreen and rear glass need at least 70 percent visible light transmission, and the side windows at least 50 percent.
In practice that means a light film. Dark black films are not legal, and UP traffic police can stop the car and issue a challan. A light shade also keeps the road visible at night and in the dense winter fog that Hardoi gets.
How the three film types compare
All three can be fitted in legal shades. The difference is in how they deal with heat.
| Film | Heat | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|
| Dyed | Absorbs heat in the dye, so the glass gets warm. Modest cooling. | Can fade and bubble after a few summers. |
| Carbon | Blocks a fair share of infrared. Clearly cooler than dyed. | Matte look, holds its colour. |
| Ceramic | Rejects the most infrared, even in a light shade. | Stays clear for years. |
Why a light film still keeps the car cooler
Many people in Hardoi still believe that darker film means a cooler car. With old dyed films that was partly true, because the dye soaked up some of the sun. But the heat you feel on your skin is mostly infrared, which the eye cannot see at all.
Carbon and ceramic films are built to block that infrared band. That is how a light, legal ceramic film can keep a cabin cooler than a dark dyed one. When you choose a film, look at the heat figures and the type of film, not just how dark the sample looks.
What to ask before any film goes on
These questions help you get a film that lasts and keeps you legal.
What is the VLT?
Ask for the visible light figure of the film on each window and make sure it fits the legal limits.
Is it carbon or ceramic?
Cheap dyed film is often sold as heat film. Ask what kind of film it actually is.
Is there metal in it?
Metallised films can disturb FASTag and phone signals. Carbon and ceramic do not.
How will the glass be cleaned?
Sandy dust trapped under film shows up as small bumps, so the glass must be cleaned properly first.
Curing and care after fitting
Do not roll the windows down for 3 to 5 days, and closer to a week in the cold months. The film needs that time to dry and bond, and lowering the glass early can lift the bottom edge.
Light haze or small water pockets in the first days are normal. Afterwards, clean the inside with a soft microfibre cloth and an ammonia-free cleaner, and keep sharp objects away from the glass.

Questions people ask
Does the Hardoi studio fit window film?
Please call the Hardoi studio to check which film types and shades are in stock and when a slot is free. Options can change, so a quick call saves a wasted trip.
Are the tint rules different in Uttar Pradesh?
No. CMVR Rule 100 is a central rule, so the 70 percent limit for the windscreen and rear glass and 50 percent for side windows apply in UP as well.
Which film is best for long NH-730 drives?
Ceramic film keeps out the most heat in a light, legal shade. Carbon film is a good middle option if you want to spend a bit less.
Will light film make a real difference in a UP summer?
Yes, as long as it is carbon or ceramic. These films target infrared heat, which you cannot see, so they work without being dark.
Can I drive in winter fog with tinted windows?
With a legal light shade, yes. Dark film is the problem in fog because it cuts how much you see of the road and other vehicles.
How do I clean tinted glass from the inside?
Use a soft microfibre cloth with water or an ammonia-free glass cleaner. Avoid paper, blades and rough pads.
